The firm has been retained by Somerset Development to transform the spectacular Eero Saarinen-designed former Bell Laboratories facility into a center for urban regeneration in Holmdel, NJ. As design architects, we will restore the 2 million sq ft building to its original glory through exploring the property’s maximum potential to create a vibrant urban experience within a rural setting.
The massive, six-story structure will feature a public ‘promenade’ created by restoring the building’s existing atrium. The pedestrian-friendly development will house a mix of businesses including retail, dining, healthcare and wellness, as well as a hotel and conference center and educational facilities. The site’s surrounding 470 acres of land allows or potential residential and recreational uses.
