This was a return client for Proctor and Wang. The firm had done the original renovation for the Belfer's single floor keeping in mind the possibility that the upper or lower floor may eventually become available. The project called for a elliptical spiraling staircase to connect the clients existing 11th floor to the newly acquired 10th floor. The private family rooms would remain on the upper floor while the lower floor would be developed into the entertainment areas for the family. The client owns a fairly substantial art collection which they were keen to display, as such the overall design and feel of the project maintained very clean almost masculine feel to it. This was off by prewar style of building that 885 Park Avenue is, although careful consideration was made in choosing a palette that would transition well with the New York City hotel apartment style that this development belongs to.
