Nice to meet you.
My name is Hideaki Hata, and I am an interior designer based in Japan.
In 2022, I established my own interior design studio.
This building in which we are based was originally used as a lumber store, and the beams have a very unique structure. Unlike modern homes, they are not sawn uniformly, and the warmth of handwork remains.
When I first saw this building, I wanted to create an office space that made use of the charm of the old beams, so I decided to renovate it as our studio.
In Japan, the idea of "scrap and build" is common, where old buildings are demolished and new buildings are built, but I believe that interior designers like us can present a new perspective on architecture and space if we can find and reuse the value that is created over time.
I hope that more people will become aware of this project in the future.
