This corner semi detached family residence has been extended to provide a large kitchen and entertainment space.
The extension picks up on the unusual geometry of the house in both plan and section. The space opens out onto the garden with triple sliding doors providing uninterrupted views and spaces. The roof slopes in respond to the changing levels of the house and garden and the facade is twisted to provide solar shading and emphasise the twisted geometry of the building.
The extension is clad in stone filled gabions, as a response to the existing render of the house and the garden setting. They also vary in depth and density to allow views through from the kitchen window without compromising privacy.
