the new residential house is directly adjacent to the parental farmhouse, on a hill above the neustift monastery. a building that is connected to the terrain in its origin, and reaches upwards, becomes part of the hillside vineyards. an elongated corpus expands to become a courtyard. the building becomes part of the vine hills, of the countryside. there is a new “middle”, an open and yet intimate area, a courtyard surrounded by the monolith. on the outside, you have the raw washed concrete, on the inside a concluded wooden structure that simultaneously serves as a constructive and static roof girder. a continuation, an opening, a reaching beyond. playing with spaces, with heights, and views
