This office block is notable for the various design devices that were used to maximise open office space. For example , a separate and large services block has been designed, containing toilets, vertical circulation facilities and service spaces. The statutatory allowance of a projection of 2’-6” from the building line for window canopies has been exploited to the full-by dispensing with ‘chajjas’ , and extending the walls themselves the same distance ,thus creating recessed windows with storage spaces below the window niches and spaces for air- conditioning ducts to run above. Coffered slabs were also used to achieve larger column –free spaces.
The ground floor has a showroom and a drive through to the parking on the other side of the property, so that people can be dropped off within the building. The appearance of the building is quite stark- simple plaster and paint- except for the window openings, which are flanked by bands of a sandstone called Chittor stone. The terrace is floored in coloured china mosaic, in a swirling pattern.
