The Beals Residence was designed for Jennifer and Justin-- urban pioneers and dream clients. The project is located in an industrial hub of Atlanta, and draws inspiration from its surroundings. There were two existing structures on the lot, one a dilapidated bungalow to be demolished, the other a 3000 SF corrugated metal structure to be integrated into the 2200 SF new design. The new addition houses a master suite and an open kitchen/dining/living area with views to the courtyard. The house is accessed by walking through an open steel-framed entry passage which references and integrates the house into its industrial setting. The design uses local and creative materials, like Georgia cypress for the exterior and Tyvek for the curtains.
