Beach Bays Cottage embodies a contemporary lakeside sanctuary that pays homage to its natural environment with a profound sense of reverence. Meticulously crafted to harmonize with the ebb and flow of the landscape, this remarkable property on the Georgian Bay captures the allure of the setting sun.
The architectural concept revolves around an elongated structure that ingeniously embraces the entirety of the underlying bedrock. By seamlessly integrating this distinctive feature, Foreshew Design Associates successfully fulfilled the client's desire for panoramic lake views from every room. The strategic placement of the roof lines, ascending gradually from the entrance to soaring heights at the lakeside, maximizes the captivating vistas of the lake and expansive sky. The choice of exterior colors was meticulously considered to blend harmoniously with the rugged beauty of the Georgian Bay's bedrock.
Employing expansive glass openings and doors, the design seamlessly invites the breathtaking lake view into every corner of the cottage. Glass emerges as a pivotal material in this design, ensuring that the interior aesthetic gracefully coexists with the serene surroundings while preserving uninterrupted sightlines. This intention is masterfully manifested in features such as the transparent wine display, the ethereal "floating" staircase adorned with ambient lighting, and the outdoor dining area complemented by a generous stacking glass door that opens onto a remarkable bar.
The design achieves a remarkable balance between functional coherence and the client's desire for distinct yet communal spaces. Seamlessly integrated with the natural topography, the cottage's exterior colors meld effortlessly with the surrounding environment, highlighting the majesty of the landscape without overshadowing the architectural forms. The judicious incorporation of decorative timber frame elements, spanning from the exterior to the interior, adds a touch of understated refinement, further enhancing the overall aesthetic excellence.
