The concept was based on that of a traditional fishing village. In a land that sees very little rain with harsh climatic conditions, fishing became the livelihood of the community and a valuable source of protein. Emerati's have and still do have a connection with the sea and with an ever growing population of the UAE, fishing still remains a great source of culinary pleasure.
A sense of place and location was very important to the Client as well as the designers, as seen in the architecture and interiors there are reminders of what was once a fishing village. Wind towers a very iconic symbol of the architectural style provide a sense of place and while the Arabic fret cut metal pendants cast wonderful shadows and reflections in the space, mashrabia screens all tell a story and keep the restaurant grounded in it's Arabic influence.
Materials where carefully selected, warm rustic timbers are offset by a tonal canvas of fabrics with hints of blue to tie in with the sea, all create a calming, romantic mood for this seafood restaurant. A fine dining experience.
