The renovation of the 1250 SF Bay Ridge Duplex called for an entire spatial reconfiguration. Partitions and confining vertical elements were removed; an enclosed and outdated 100 SF kitchen that was once an afterthought now becomes the focal point and hearth of the home, vastly expanded and opened up to radiate into the dining and living areas. Equally considered were the aesthetic alterations that were designed to merge holistically in order to reflect the client. Decidedly contemporary, but with a concentration in incorporating classic Italianate features, the gut renovation and new design lift an utterly ordinary Brooklyn home into an open and bright loft-style apartment.
