Batalis Restaurant was renovated from an old French villa within just 35 days. The entire design concept was developed directly on-site through close collaboration among the design team, without relying on any 3D renderings or perspectives.
One of the most distinctive features of the project lies in the decorative details inspired by Hát Bội and Tuồng Cổ — traditional forms of Vietnamese classical opera. More than cultural references, these elements bring depth and visual rhythm to the walls while reinforcing the overall design language.
In terms of interior expression, Batalis embraces a layered and eclectic approach while still preserving the spirit of Indochine aesthetics through antique wooden furniture, Uncle Bay masks, and artworks by artists Tran The Vinh and Ha Hung. Yet rather than feeling nostalgic or heavy, the space carries a youthful, vibrant energy that makes the restaurant feel alive and contemporary.
