The BASE Community Center is designed to serve as the “community living room” with welcoming and inviting spaces to foster gathering and wellness in Big Sky, Montana. BASE stands for Big Adventure Safe Environment. The acronym describes two parts: The immersive experience of being in the mountains and the multigenerational offerings supporting well-being for all ages. Originally designed with the seasonal workers and the long-term locals in mind, BASE is a place for everyone.
Designed in collaboration with A&E, the center promotes physical and emotional well-being with spaces dedicated to fitness, sports, multi-generational programming, mental health, arts, and culture. The center takes advantage of its location in the community by promoting the best of Big Sky living with strong visual and physical connections between interior and exterior, whether in the summer with large openings to allow programs to spill out to the park or in the winter with stunning views to the mountains that surround the project site. The facility encourages all members of the Big Sky Community to come together and connect, learn, and grow.
The design of the center has been a collaboration between the Big Sky Community Organization, Design Team, GC/CM, and the community.
