vacation home to become residence upon retirement.
CONSUMPTION:
Power: on-site, grid-tied, net-metered PV system at
garage.
Water: from roof via waterfall feature, stored in
concrete tank.
Lighting: full depth daylighting in all spaces via
North facing glazing.
Thermal
comfort: proper siting of home re: sun
angles, prevailing breezes allows passive heating, cooling and natural
ventilation. Fireplace and passive roof
chimney design provide additional heating also aiding dehumidification in rainy
months.
COST/CONSTRUCTABILITY:
Modular
structural grid facilitates maximum of standard materials, quick erection and
reduced labor.
Large roof
spans achieved with inexpensive TJI’s.
Durable
Hardi-panel siding with extruded aluminum joints provides modernity. Extends to the interior making it feel larger
and eliminating vast majority of drywall with its labor and finishing costs
(also reduces mold potential in humid environment).
Windows and doors all standardized sizes, nail-on
with durable vinyl finishes.
