An underused courtyard has been cleverly remodelled into this vibrant social learning space, known as the Lightwell Café. On a tight urban site where opportunities for campus development are limited, the fitout at the heart of this 1930s building has opened up the campus both physically and socially. Flexible spaces have been created by connecting to the surrounding library, museum and dining facilities. A semi-enclosed reading ‘pod’ creates a dramatic focus at the centre.
