It is an interior design of a BAR which is on the first floor of
an old apartment located at Maizuru in Fukuoka-city. After the 90s, a club or a music hall were located many around Oyafukou-Street in Maizuru Area and the area supported the music
scene of Fukuoka. In addition, Maizuru was the sending base of the
street art of Fukuoka. However, the area did not correspond with
changes of the times nor adjust urban development which moved its main to
south side and Hakata-Side in Fukuoka-City. It causes aversion
among young people.
I hoped to make an opportunity to solve the problem. In the
location that deviated from the central city of Fukuoka a little, you can
see the feature of the postwar Japanese cityscape in the area dotted
with the wooden houses with inclined roofs. I designed the low roof which evoked an image of an attic to
express a symbol as the connection between the past and the present age. Also, the height of the counter is as same as the general dining table's
and a part of the floor is wooden. As the finishing touch of
internal walls surfaces, the undercoat of mortar was exposed for keeping
the feature of the apartment. While inheriting cityscape of Maizuru, making the calm and
modern space which was friendly as if it was one’s house was completed.
