Seated at the main road of Tainan City, Wenxian Road, directly opposite Bao An Train Station.
Bao An Bus Station was extended from Metropolitan Police Department, the historical remains of the Japanese Colonial during Showa Period.
The former building was a Japanese-style building which made from bricks and wood was arranged spaces like office and dormitory with layout “一“ shaped. The porch was extruded as the entrance and the gable roof which supported by the steel column as façade.
As police department was deserted after it has been relocated, the building could not completely preserve and only the brick entrance was remained. In 2012, the design team was appointed to restore the original facade of historical remains into a bus station according to the only remaining elevation drawing. Steel and bricks were used as the new structure which was extended from the existing brick entrance and make the existing old tree to become the main body of the place.
The added container house beside the bus station was built as a gathering place for community patrol team.
Bao An Bus Station was aspired not only to become a waiting area for passengers but also a neighbourhood park for residents.
