A bank that starts from an association of ten batik merchants from Batik
market ‘Pasar Baru’ at Bandung, West Java in 1908 named ‘Himpunan Soedara’ (Himpunan means Association). This design
started with the momentum of the bank's 100th anniversary. Its historical value
that we adopted as a design concept when we’re commissioned to design their Priority
Banking area (Area of a bank that dedicated for premium
customer). This Batik pattern and the associations of ten batik merchants is our main concept. We want the
batik patterns to
fill the space. This
pattern has to be the interior element and
not merely decoration. We use this pattern
to guide customers into the lounge and also as a skin between the
corridor and the private staff & personal banking area, in the form of patterns on the walls and ceiling. The batik pattern that we use is the kawung pattern
because not only the pattern is symmetrical,
kawung word also came from Sundanese language (sundanese is West Java local ethnic which root back
to the origin of Bank Saudara) which means
palm seeds.
For the concept of the ten merchants associations is represented with ten petals which
became one as the service station. Aside from being the centerpiece, it also
serves as cabling line for lighting
and for the LCD TV’s
structure placement.
