Bank House, occupies a dramatic and
spectacular location on Rutland Island or ‘Inis Mhic an Doirn’, which lies
between Burtonport and the inhabited Arranmore Island off the west coast of
County Donegal.   The residence is
designed to integrate into its surroundings, deal intelligently with the
climate whilst satisfying the client’s request of a home which truly reflected
their desires, aspirations and lifestyle.  It is a design that is once relevant and practical, aware of its unique
surroundings and the harsh elemental conditions. A balance between vernacular references
and crisp volumes of modern architecture allow for the creation of a spacious
and light filled home with many visual surprises. The dwelling is an adventure
in volume and proportion whilst remaining human in scale and stimulating to the
senses.
