Calm, cool and collected may not be the first words that come to mind when thinking of a steamy, bustling metropolis in Southeast Asia. But that’s exactly what a young, Thai entrepreneur asked for in this renovation, our second project in Bangkok. We responded with custom-designed storage and furniture components featuring bold, modern lines punctuated with confident colors, natural materials and subtle, Asian accents.
A full line of appliances, including a wine refrigerator, integrated with floor-to-ceiling cabinets and a new island counter and bar complete the indoor-outdoor Kitchen, while in the open Living and Dining area, a re-modeled Half-Bath, set behind a wall of custom cabinetry, lies opposite a distinctive 9 meter long sofa/dining/storage bench, a custom-designed Dining table and a back-lit mirror running the length of the space.
On the Second Floor, we outfitted the en-suite Bedroom with over 7 meters of custom millwork featuring a full-size platform bed, concealed flat-screen TV, drawers and book storage on one wall, and storage for clothing, travel and sports gear and a hidden writing desk on the other. A pebble border, running below all the cabinets, echoes the Ground Floor miniature Zen Garden (designed to escape all that urban frenzy!), and near the hidden writing desk, there’s even room to conceal a tower fan on a pull-out shelf and above that, a wall-mounted A/C unit, perfect for those hot Bangkok nights!
Calm, cool and collected, indeed!
