First place winning project for a opera house set to be an extension of historical Centro Gallego in Havana.The project echoed the inbeded theater inside the Centro Gallego, with an theater that was raised, for the time of the performance, inside a glass veil.This project was the first one we did profesionnally in 1997.We won, so we were hooked on competition from then on.The concept bears the bais of my design research team : strong in situ identities echoed in contemporary spaces, and a fascination for architecture that react to the moments of life that inhabits them.President of jury was Arthur Erickson.The competition was one of the first to use internet as base.316 entries.The second phase was aborted for lack of support of Cuba government,the project was organized by an american foundation.
