This is a proposal for Bamiyan cultural centre competition. Bamiyan is one of the Afghan cities with cultural diversity. Here two different cultures meet each other, Islamic and Buddhism. Bamiyan has outstanding landmark (buddha cliff) which was demolished by Afghan extremists. The projects site location is located on the opposite side of buddha cliff.
Our approach for designing was to follow the traditional style of desert architecture with a new approach of building it with sandbags to make a building which is best matched with its vicinity and it's environment climate and its people culture and cut down on expenses by using earthy materials by using a simple way of construction.
