Bally Design’s Innovation Center was an adaptive reuse of a warehouse turned office space. The existing steel columns, exposed wood ceiling, brick walls, and concrete floors were the initial elements of the design.
The client wanted to create a casual and informal creative environment that was flexible, open, and supportive of the creative process.  Break-out areas were interspersed around the office to allow brainstorming sessions to occur in a collaborative way.
Creative usage of  common construction products were used to create an unusual space that was cost effective for Pittsburgh’s Northside.  A few of these materials were  exposed steel stud walls with translucent plastic sheets as wall finishes.  A continuous curved wall surface used magnetic white board wallpaper that can be drawn on or attached to with magnets.  Certain walls can double as projection surfaces for video displays or presentations.  The concrete floors were painted or had carpet added for visual stimulation and comfort.
Tusick & Associates Architects was involved from pre-design, solving code issues for exiting, to design, to construction documents, to bidding and negotiating, to construction observation, to closeout.  Throughout the entire arc of the project process we were closely involved with the clients making sure that every aspect of the design was realized.
