The goal of the Ballet West Fluid Adagio Competition is to redesign a temporary installation, to last 1-2 years, to create a unique spacial experience within the urban context of Salt Lake City. This project relies heavily on the concept of genius loci (spirit of place). Through a series of explorations we accumulated traces of what makes this site unique. These traces came from sources such as, spacial configuration, pediestrian interaction, and imbued memory of past structures. It is these traces that influenced our decisions for the project. Our competition submission deserves a second chance because we believe the ability of our project to meet the competition criteria may have been overlooked. The depth of thought put into the material choice and layers of context integrated into the project require a deeper examination of the project then just a first impression glance.
