Located in Houston's Midtown District, one of the city's largest and oldest central neighborhoods, the project site has been transformed from blight to benefit, manifesting into a street and park that is a desirable place meeting the needs of residents and visitors. Originally a blighted corridor and an abandoned pocket park, the Bagby Corridor has established the transformation and paradigm shift for green streets and capital improvements in Houston and the United States. It is the first public right-of-way corridor in Houston that truly challenged and changed conventional auto-centric attitudes. The design team shifted its focus towards creating a "livable corridor" with greater emphasis to the pedestrian realm, environmental significance and a diverse demographic.
