The merging of traditional post + beam timber construction with modern architecture is just as much possible as constructing low energy buildings made of glass. Both of these have been proven in the new show house in Bad Vilbel. Adopting the principles of post + beam architecture, allowing the flexibility of design without the restriction of load bearing walls, this house truly demonstrates living in its freest form whether internally or externally.
Sunny Relaxtion on two Levels
The rooms on the ground floor run over into each other: Open kitchen, Living and Dining room with its glazed double height space offers not only the chance for retreat but also gives the flexibility required with a hospitable family. The Living room, a transparent “Light palace” extends this combination of rooms and is quickly the favourite space. A comfortable Sofa made of the finest leather, high quality smooth surfaced grey floor tiling and various pieces of art define the living space. The adjacent utility room proves to be very practical, with its entrance directly from the kitchen it ticks all the boxes needed for a heating, utility and pantry. The room was designed in such a way that both the washer and the freezer can be fitted.Rounding the whole lovingly planned floor plan are the individually planned pieces of fitted furniture produced in own factory. White furniture matching in the best way together with the white laminated timber beams and the light plastered walls. Incredibly ingenious is the hidden entrance to the utility room which is integrated into the kitchen units.
Planned Flexibility
The interior layout allows this design to have lots of flexibility for personal desires. Creative clients will appreciate and see the advantage of this immediately. Whether, as demonstrated in the show house, the Study (which could be TV or music room) and the Children’s bedroom with ensuite shower room are directly accessible from the entrance hall or whether the Study is turned into a further children’s or guest room, everything is possible. Even later a ground floor master suite with separate dressing room and bathroom, or a two room homeoffice is possible. And last but not least – by reducing the size of the somewhat extravagant Wellness area, a family with more than two Children could have a wonderful home.
A quiet Room with many Refinements
From the centre of the living space and by using the carpet covered straight run stair, you arrive on a gallery on the upper floor. On this floor you will find the private rooms. From the Master bedroom and passing through the separated mirrored dressing area you enter into the approximately 37 m² Wellness oasis. A dream comes true:
Whether it is the free standing bath tub with a view into the garden, the walk-in shower with dousing shower head, the separated toilet or the glazed sauna that all fits perfectly within the slender DAVINCI HAUS timber framing. The bathroom is highlighted with the in-house designed and produced furniture together with the taps from Philippe Starck.
The generously planned dream house is crowned with a light-filled studio. All rooms are convincingly finished by using a small amount of pleasing to the eye materials. All levels demonstrate harmony, calmness and continuity. Accessories in varying shades of petrol create an eye catcher.
Eneryg efficient technology
For a comfortable and pleasant living, a heating system providing a the highest level of provision all year round is required. In the cold winter months the rooms are heated using an ecological friendly Air-to-Water heat pump. Using the low running temperature the under floor heating is ideal. Utilising modern window technology with highly insulated thermal glazing even the highest requirements for heat-loss reduction can be easily achieved. This house requires less than 60 kWh/m²a in primary energy.
