During the next years Baakenhafen will develop into an urban living quarter with maritime character and into an important component of the eastern HarbourCity Hamburg.On the basis of the urban planning concept a new, dense living quarter is developed, its unique characteristic is gained by a common, high-quality free space. The exposed, two sided location at the water and the rough harbour scenery characterize the potential of the area. The free space intents to bring the vicinity to the water to mind and to stage the historical traces of the former harbour life as particularities. Ancient pavement and quay walls, rail systems and crane installations are integrated in the future urban space and shape additionally the atmosphere of Baakenhafen.
