The "New Nightscape of Ávila" project is its Lighting MasterPlan. It consists of the renovation to the entire existing public lighting in the urban term, initially includes both functional and the ornamental.
The challenges facing the project include:
- Improving the lives of the Avila’s inhabitants and the tourists who visit it.
- Correct the accumulated errors, to improve the installation and make it more efficient
- Increase the beauty of the city and the comfort at night
- Recover the view of the stars both from the city and from its environment (the sky is consider also heritage)
- Improve the marketing and positioning of the City
- Increase overnight stays and business
- The execution of the project: Obtaining financial resources to implement it
- Communication Project: Introduce the transformation of the city both residents and tourists and society in general
- The influence of the context in Heritage, and capabilities of Heritage to influence their environment
This lighting strategy has been "translated" into a Lighting Masterplan structured in four areas:
1. Functional Lighting
Street lighting, both commercial and residential streets
2. Ornamental lighting
Monuments and their surroundings illumination. Also squares and gardens
3. Commercial Lighting
It is the shop windows, signs, displays, etc..
4. Festive lighting
It is often sporadic and is used in celebrations: Christmas, Patron Saints, and Cultural...
