At a glance, Avenue 41 blurs the lines between a property showroom and a contemporary studio within one single space. The inspiration hinges from the desire to break the norms of how a property showroom should look and feel like. To give visitors the chance to experience functionality in a space instead of just seeing it. Thus, the result is an open, modular space that better maximises use of the area by also designing it as an event space for other parties. Extending a gesture to artists, performers and event planners alike, to tinker with a transformative space until they have made a place they can call their own.
The stark space is then brought to life with ceiling-high windows covered just enough with tall, bespoke murals to allow natural light to pass through - illuminating the chalky interior and highlighting a clean and unwinding look.
Within the centre of the space, a ‘floating table’ secured by high-tension wires hovers as the avenue’s centrepiece. Depending on one’s intention with the space, the 15-feet long table can be brought to descend or ascend through a neatly concealed lever - fitting uses for dining or lounging within moments. Be it a buffet table or a dance floor, incorporating flexible and adjustable elements was a key idea behind the design of the space.
Keeping in tandem with the idea of flexibility, the avenue features a set of compressible, storable furniture that can be tucked away or assembled easily for any immediate seating. Rounding up the studio space is also a fully-equipped, minimalist kitchen that was included to conveniently meet the need of serving food for a sizable audience, and partly as a kitchen design showcase for the development team behind the avenue.
Setting black-tinted panel cabinets against a light, serene backsplash, the kitchen seamlessly brings weight and balance to the overall aesthetics by being the dark focal point of the space, with a colour palette that also matches the under-grill of the ‘floating table’.
Finished with a floor-to-ceiling, rusted-metal door clad with a wooden frame, the entrance is deliberately made to be enormous and heavy, as if intimidating those who approach it. The possibilities of a creatively-brimmed space then lie at the hurdle of this massive door, meant to simulate the arduous liberation of an artist from their doubts as they push through.
With Avenue 41, Luxe helps welcome and equip aspiring dreamers with the tools to design, innovate and explore their creativity. To break down walls of doubts and uncertainties, and to encourage them to create, share and inspire. And they accomplish this by first setting a creative example of their own.
