The Aveling Centre, Lloyd Park has been designed to cater for over one million visitors per year in the park providing new, improved facilities including a café, learning space, park ranger office, and refurbished artists’ studios, as well as public toilets. In essence the project is a low energy, under stated new building which enables and supports activities within the park. It is designed as an extension of the park and creates an outdoor space enclosed by a garden wall on one side, with generous glazing to the other opening onto the landscape. The enclosure is protected by the generous overhang of the roof of the pavilion.
