The project explores urban infrastructure as a medium for contextual design within a residential district developed on the former ZIL industrial site in Moscow.
The street network is named after avant-garde artists and architects, establishing a strong cultural framework. The design of the manhole covers responds to this context, drawing from the visual language of Russian avant-garde architecture.
The pattern is derived from the facade of the Melnikov House, reinterpreted into a geometric composition adapted for cast metal. The structure of the pattern creates an optical effect of depth, giving the impression that the form emerges from the ground surface.
The project transforms a purely technical element into a subtle urban artifact, integrating historical reference into everyday infrastructure
