For its new office in downtown Atlanta, the leader in 3D design, engineering, and entertainment software desired a branded environment as interactive as its product and as captivating as Atlanta’s eclectic culture. To inspire employees to create their best work, the Interiors Studio borrowed elements from parks and landmarks along the Atlanta Beltway, integrating colors and layers from the company’s rendering software to create a fun, engaging, and functional workplace. The resulting design weaves these elements together to embody Atlanta’s art, nature, and urban renewal efforts and, ultimately, connect people to place.
A rainbow canopy arching over a tree trunk reception desk welcomes guests to the “City in a Forest.” For intuitive wayfinding, a primary circulation path winds through the open, airy office, while floor-to-ceiling glazing shows 360-degree views of Atlanta’s skyline. Skyscraper graphics repeat on indoor wall murals reinforcing the space’s urban context.
Colorful modular pods, interpretative of the Tiny Doors ALT project, create enclosed meeting spaces for employees to focus while shared spaces furnished with citrus sofas, curved carpeting cutouts, and wood tables offer more dynamic, collaborative options. An event area with tiered stadium seating and hanging lanterns inspired by the Annual Lantern Parade provides a place for social gatherings and presentations. A covered shed in a vegetable patch salutes the urban farming movement and carves out a private nook. An homage to Ponce City Market, the breakroom features orange chairs, timbered ceilings, ceramic tiles, and graffiti by a local artist akin to the famous Krog Street Tunnel to create an attractive space for belonging and connection. Celebrating Atlanta’s urban renewal, cubicles fabricated from wooden barn doors, metal mesh panels, LED lighting, and industrial elements embrace the indoor/outdoor environment.
A tribute to Atlanta’s workforce’s preferences, values, and needs, the design renders an imaginative workplace that captures the software giant’s brand essence where employees create, work, and play.
