Aurecon are a leading consultancy that provides engineering, management and specialist technical services for public and private sector clients globally.
Aurecon engaged futurespace to undertake a complete refurbishment of their Sydney offices to better enable their workplace to support their future business. The work was undertaken with Aurecon in occupation and the construction work required careful coordination between the design team, construction team and client through a six stage refurbishment process. At each stage a refurbishment of the base building was undertaken including all ceilings, services, core toilets and lift lobbies. The existing legacy fit out was inefficient and had a significant number of shortcomings that needed to be addressed to provide a flexible new workplace that would carry Aurecon in Sydney to 2020 and beyond.
The Sydney project was undertaken in the context of Aurecon’s documented global workplace guidelines and followed their relocation to new premises in Melbourne. Analysis of the successful aspects of the Melbourne project informed the design process for Sydney and a target was set to achieve a better workplace by building on lessons learnt from previous projects and adding a unique Sydney flavour.
Some of the key objectives for the project included facilitating greater collaboration + connectivity, providing great facilities for staff and clients, attracting and retaining the best talent in the industry and significantly upgrading technology and AV to industry best practice.
The new workplace facilitated the alignment of Aurecon’s safety and environmental standards with the built environment and has a focus on healthy working. This is supported by upgraded “end of journey” facilities and a workplace that maximizes natural light and movement. The new workplace was seen by Aurecon as a great opportunity to communicate and demonstrate Aurecon’s leadership in delivering leading and global engineering design solutions.
