The singular risk of Augusta House.
Augusta House was projected for the atelier Singular Risk - Architecture, Lda. e seats all its singularity in a rochedo that, here and acolá, “sprouts” of the land and, therefore, was invited to enter in the project. Pablo Costa equips it of the office sedeado in Barcelos, and Sónia Abreu, faced the penedo in granite as an important element that the house would finish for hugging.
Situated in a land in half directed hillside the west, in an agricultural landscape encircled by fields of culture and the bleat of the sheep that if hear to far, Augusta House rests calm next to an immense rochedo that it emerges of the ground and that, of some form, conditioned its space drawing. Although the rochedo not to be a residue, but yes an element that would go to be part of Augusta House, the architects of the Singular Risk cannot say that the starting point for this work was this, because it has “other factors to have in account in the development of the project, nominated the solar orientation, the framing, among others, that they are of extreme importance for its conceção, without forgetting the program base, in this in case that of the habitation”, explains Sónia architect Abreu.
It was opted to total opening the house for the exterior, and to keep the rochedo for its framing in the landscape, “using it as a natural curtain, a visual ticket between the land and the arquitetónico object to construct, Augusta House”, describes the architect of the Singular Risk. The narrow relation created between the interior and the exterior of the habitation also was guaranteed with the use of the glass to a large extent of the façade of the house that, in the opinion of equips of the Singular Risk, “transmits freedom for its translucidez”. For its turn, the application of the wood looks for to become the space acolhedor although the use of the shale that presents a texture of contradiction with the rochedo of granite.
