The Valentí Fuster Auditorium becomes the new conventions center of Cardona located in the old "Cine Moderno" facilities. The rehabilitation project has been promoted by the City of Cardona and the SHE Foundation, of which renowned cardiologist is president and works to promote healthy lifestyle habits to tackle Cardiovascular disease.
The new facility is, together with the Cardona Field House, one of the key pieces of the Cardona Integral initiative to turn the village into a healthy lifestyle place creating synergies between the sports, health, and education.
The project consisted of the interior rehabilitation of the old cinema and the annexed premises as a convention center. This rehabilitation affects mainly the interior area of the building occupied at the moment by the cinema and the modification of the compositional structure of one of the front-facades of the building, generating new openings that, at the same time, give visibility to the new center of conventions.
The rehabilitation of "Cine Moderno" represents a remarkable opportunity to recover this historical equipment for the city, on the one hand as a space for carrying out professional activities related to science and technology, and on the other as a space destined for culture in its most artistic dimension.
That is why the Auditorium is considered as functional as possible in order to facilitate the diverse use of spaces, implying a significant rationalization of the facilities.
