| Project proposal for the Lunawood Urban Challenge International Competition, organized by Oy Lunawood Ltd.
This project is located in the heart of Maurice Audin Square, adjacent to Didouche Mourad Street. This emblematic urban center added to this structural artery, makes it one of the most famous places in Algiers, capital city of Algeria.
The intention that came through the design process was to vertically extend the square by creating an Observation Tower that associates sharing, visual, and artistic activities in the same place, offering a new perception and an innovative perspective of the neighborhood.
The AOT project is composed of a metallic central core that contains the vertical circulation, on which are grafted multiple balconies. This set is draped by two leaves folded in an Origami way. The resulted envelop is composed of wooden slats from the product range Lunawood Thermowood SHP 42x42, with different lengths, and spaced out with a constant distance of 02 cm.
