Collaborating closely with an international team of consultants, EC3 developed a carbon-neutral design concept for the 34-story structure as a hybrid of steel and concrete super-structural frame with five-story mass-timber (CLT) inserts. Dubbed the “Book-Shelf” and taking advantage of Sydney’s mild climate, the reference design for Atlassian Tower minimizes the need for conventional HVAC systems by optimizing natural ventilation on separate workplace floors.
On the north side, the most exposed to solar heat gain throughout the workday, protected landscaped terraces create a highly desirable alternative to working inside for casual meetings and team collaborations.
