The assembling housing located at Ybor City is a mixed-use
project that blends within its urban context by bringing a diversity of
architectural spaces.
An open public plaza connects the southern and northern
streets by creating an elevated pedestrian boulevard. On the second level an
outdoor amphitheatre serves as a new amenity for the visitors and residents of
the area.
The project is divided into three main components: the
residential area which is located on the western side of the site relates to
the height context of the surrounding buildings, maximizing the views towards
downtown Tampa. Retail spaces are located along the street edge of the site
which relates to the more transited vehicular traffic streets.
Finally, the landscape includes the main public plaza, the
outdoor amphitheatre, and the green roof on the second level.
The mixed-use assembling housing adds a sense of place to
the Ybor City area by providing human activity needs, and a new flexible and
adaptable way of life to new residents of the area.
The construction method used in this project consists of structural
corten steel columns; pre-assembled modules made of steel frame, stainless
steel metal panels and wood flooring (interior of units); perforated steel
plates and concrete walls for the vertical circulation.
