This private residence in the foothills of Almaty was designed for a large family seeking to merge contemporary living with deep cultural roots.
Both the architecture and interior were developed in parallel, from the ground up, allowing for a cohesive and expressive spatial narrative. A modern layout with high ceilings, transparent partitions, and a strong emphasis on natural light is seamlessly interwoven with subtle references to Kazakh identity.
The interior features natural materials — marble, wood, and textiles — alongside custom bas-reliefs inspired by nomadic culture, rendered in restrained monochromatic plasterwork.
Furniture and lighting strike a balance between European minimalism and bespoke pieces designed specifically for this project. The color palette is warm and muted: earthy tones, ochre, brass, and natural wood. Accents are introduced gently — through texture, tactility, and unexpected visual perspectives.
Aspantau Residence is a home grounded in the present, where the past is not represented literally, but evoked through rhythm, proportion, stillness, and imagery.
