An international competition to design Asian Culture Complex to be the main facility of Gwangju as Hub City of Asian Culture. The proposed building is located around the site of the former Office of Jeollanamdo Province which is a historically important area in this city known for its spirit of democracy, human rights and peace. The location also serves as a bustling center for the people of Gwangju.
The complex should be easy to comprehend, by allowing visitors to grasp the organization of the complex at first glance. The project came as Grand Welcoming Curve, strengthening convenience, by arranging entrances of main culture facilities buildings at the line of the pedestrian axis. Each function is systematically connected to others through the Grand Ramp, thus emphasizes a culture network linked with the variety of cultural facilities.
