The project was generated in a summer workshop called "Desert Workshop" (taller del desierto), with the theme "My encounter with eternity" with the Peruvian Architect Luis Longhi as coordinator, the project consisted in choosing a natural place for the moment of our encounter with eternity (the moment we die) and design the intervention or shelter for this, also design the entire situation in which is going to happen. The chosen place was Ha Long Bay in Vietnam, for his historic and natural characteristics, This place is a maze of limestone islands that are surrounded and connected by the sea and one of this thousands of islands was chosen for the intervention, due to the characteristics of the place an intervention that change the profile of the island would not only affect this island but the entire landscape, so the intervention needed to be carved into the island. The concept was based in the fragmentation of the elements that generate the landscape of the place, water (sea), earth (limestone islands), and air (sky) this generate three different spaces, in different proportions and hight to enhance this characteristics, also access and circulations to this spaces are generated. The access is the only space in the intervention were the landscape is complete, the second space is the largest, brighter, and with the easiest access, this one has a view to the air and is were the social activities take place, the third is smallest with less light and is harder to access this one has a view to the earth, the fourth is the smallest, darkest and hardest to access, the view from here is to the water. Each space is more elevated that the last, to get better views to the three elements and the circulations to this spaces are more and more difficult from one space to the other to get more privacy. The only furniture are concrete walls that are perforated this works as chairs, tables, and shelves, this perforations are bigger or smaller depending of the space.
