The Gauchos of Argentina are celebrated in this unique riverside restaurant and bar. Asado exudes an old world feel and sense of intimacy and warmth, synonymous with the San Telmo brand.
Open views through the bar expose a large open flame parrilla grille and firepit, creating a mesmerising backdrop and theatre to the venue. A palette rich in natural materials and raw textures references an authentic Argentinian style. Luscious green hues, hints of deep red and warm amber feature in stained-glass detailing to the shopfront glazing, continuing internally to steelwork screens, striking a vibrant line of colour through the space. Scalloped leather seating, rough sawn timber elements and columns sheathed in cow hide with metal stud detailing emphasises a genuine, hand-crafted feel. The bar area exudes a festive ambience, defined with black and white checkerboard tiling and catenary style lighting. A floor to ceiling artisan mosaic portrait of a Gaucho is the hero of the space. Blackened steel wine racks extend full height, providing glimpses through to the private dining rooms beyond. Steel portals frame the entry to each of the exclusive spaces and sisal ropes weave across the ceiling, creating a subtle reference to weapons used by the Gauchos. Timber bench seating wraps around the shopfront, offering alfresco dining with a strong connection and presence on the boulevard, with views to the Yarra River and city beyond.
