As I Am is an immersive Thai dining and entertainment destination that brings together gastronomy, digital media and spatial experience. Conceived as a sequence of distinct environments, the project moves guests through a series of spaces that gradually shift in atmosphere from sensory discovery and elevated dining to casual dining, cocktails and music. The design interprets Thai culture through abstraction rather than literal representation. Colour, light, scent, sound, digital imagery and materiality are used to create an environment that is continuously transformed by the experience taking place within it.
The journey begins in the ‘Spice Room’, an interactive gallery that introduces the ingredients and sensory ref- erences behind the culinary experience. A centre console displays herbs, spices and botanicals, many of which are incorporated into the courses served throughout the restaurant. Interactive screens surrounding the space present abstract digital interpretations of modern Thai art and culture, creating a visual and sensory in- troduction to the experience. The room functions as a threshold between the outside world and the restaurant, allowing guests to encounter the ingredients and references of the menu before entering the dining spaces.
The central dining experience takes place within ‘The Kitchen’, a 40-seat dining room organized around an open show kitchen. The show kitchen counter places the chefs directly within the dining environment, making the preparation and presentation of each course part of the spatial experience. A large LED screen positioned above the counter extends the culinary narrative through digital imagery, with projections synchronized to thedishes being served. The room is conceived as a dining theatre, where the relationship between chef, guest, food and media becomes part of the architecture. Each course is accompanied by a combination of visual con- tent, sound and scent, creating a sequence in which the dining experience extends beyond the plate.
In contrast the ‘RND’ lounge provides a more casual and energetic setting for dining, cocktails and music. A 12-metre-long bar forms the main architectural element of the space. A series of suspended fabric forms flows above, creating a dynamic ceiling plane that responds to the energy of the room with a floating digital sculpture forming a visual focal point at the centre of the lounge. Long fluid shaped communal tables and curved ban- quettes create a very casual arrangement that supports a range of social configurations. The space is de- signed to shift in color and character throughout the day and night, moving from casual dining towards a more upbeat cocktail and music-driven atmosphere.
Two PDRs, the Red Room and Blue Room, complete the private dining experiences. Conceived as a contem- porary homage to Thailand’s national colours, the Red Room and Blue Room immerse guests in contrasting chromatic environments, where colour becomes the defining architectural element.
Across As I Am, the interior is conceived as a sequence of atmospheres rather than a singular visual language. The project uses architecture as a framework for sensory experience, allowing light, image, sound, scent and food to continuously alter the perception of each space.
