A new residential architecture project comes to life in the centre of Milan, in a strategic location in the heart of the Navigli, in the immediate vicinity of the splendid Segantini Park. Art and architecture will merge in the ‘Artown’ real estate project, realised by the Building Group to create a unique combination by creating works and artistic installations that will dialogue with the complex's interior and exterior environments. Special attention will be paid to sustainability and reduction of environmental impact, making the building an example of redevelopment and virtuous use of resources.
The project, developed by Daniele Fiori's DFA Partners studio in collaboration with Boffa Petrone & Partners and marketed exclusively by Oneshot Real Estate Solutions, which will also take on the role of Advisory, envisages the renovation of an old industrial building in Via Crollalanza and the creation of a three-level residential complex made unique by the intervention of artist Vincenzo Marsiglia, who will transform the building's spaces into a synthesis of light, sign and matter, under the curatorship of Beatrice Audrito.
The architecture of Artown will be characterised by a harmonious dialogue between traditional and modern elements, embellished by luxuriant terraces with trees and plants that will frame the creative idea of the multifaceted Marsiglia, an artist well-established on the international scene, who opened the last edition of the Moderne Art Fair in Paris by illuminating the Champs-Élysées with his art.
Inside the new Artown, thanks to a skilful play on perspective, Marsiglia will transform the two interior corridors into a cathedral of light capable of inspiring those who live in and pass through these spaces on a daily basis. Outside, the patios and terraces will host luminous and inhabitable sculptural works, offering an intimate space for regeneration and reflection, making each home exclusive with a dedicated work of art. The works designed by Marseille for Artown will be characterised by a simple graphic symbol, in the shape of a four-pointed star, called ‘Marseille Unity’ (UM); an iconic and distinctive element of his research that the artist will decline in different solutions, techniques and materials, following the echo of the great masters of abstractionism and minimalism who have marked the history of art with their search for rigour and balance.
From an architectural point of view, the Artown project was born with the aim of giving back to the area a renewed, elegant and avant-garde complex, characterised by a unique and engaging atmosphere in the beating heart of the city that never sleeps. The first block of the building will be inspired by industrial design, with the use of exposed brick and large windows recalling the original character of the building. The second portion will be characterised by the typical shape of the industrial building and will see the use of stone-effect cladding for the masonry parts. The dark grey metal window and door frames and the copper effect roofing will complete the aesthetics of the building.
Artown will house 12 contemporary flats of different sizes: from one-bedroom apartments on one floor to three- and four-bedroom apartments on two levels, with the possibility of taverns and patios. Car garages and cellars will be built in the basement, ensuring convenience and comfort for residents. Floor-to-ceiling windows will illuminate the modern and elegant interiors, enhanced by fine materials and sophisticated design and equipped with home automation systems to ensure maximum comfort. The penthouses will be equipped with verdant terraces for exclusive use, ideal for enjoying moments of complete relaxation in this new corner of Milan, surrounded by a well-kept and iridescent flora. An oasis carefully designed to create a vibrant and ever-changing outdoor space.
Piero Boffa, Chairman of the Building Group, said: ‘We have made art a distinctive element of all our projects, guided by a passion for aesthetics and the conviction that works can transform the spaces we conceive, making them absolutely unique and distinctive. For us, art is not a mere decorative complement, but an essential element that gives a soul to our projects."
