A 40-year-old apartment awash with natural light, overlooking an endless expanse of green trees extending toward the horizon, is reminiscent of the hotel room that the designer stayed in during his trip to Europe to receive a design award while honeymooning. Recollecting each memorable detail, evoking the feelings experienced then, and commemorating those precious moments, has become the primary task of this design.

The 40-ping space must satisfy the aesthetic and functional requirements of a design company and home living – not only does it need to resemble an office space, it also has to accommodate home living. There has to be a clear differentiation between office area and private area, with room for flexible usage. In view of the need for both privacy and interconnectedness, conventional solid wall partitions have been substituted by the reinforced theme of virtually constructed domains extending into one another, so that each area may be used independently or together. Through the opening and closing of each glass or mirror partition, one can satisfy the needs of functionality, privacy, and space in a fun way, be it for office or home, making it possible for virtuality and reality to coexist within the same space.

The office area is predominantly colored in a cool and rational blue-gray and embellished with an innovative and lively gold color. The center of the space remains a passionate peachy pink. This color combination seeks to reflect the rational, innovative, calm and passionate qualities that a designer must possess. The overall decor takes after European classical art with its rich history. The design deliberately preserves the ambience of that memory, and each corner features memorable vignettes of the award-winning trip. One may take a trip down memory lane by gazing at the mirrors reflecting street settings with European-style architecture.
