This gut renovation converts a conventional Upper East Side two-bedroom apartment into a sleek, loft-like pied-a-terre that doubles as an art gallery. Our client requested a flexible space where she could stay with her family on occasional visits to NYC, or which she could convert into a salon-style gallery for showcasing her photographic works. Using a series of sliding doors and panels, she can now create two bedrooms or completely conceal the kitchen within a larger exhibition space. A stainless steel display shelf wrapping both the main space and the bedroom supports an ever-changing selection of the client’s art. The clean modern pallet of white walls, oak floors and marble provides a pristine backdrop to the colorful photographs and complementary furnishings.
