The pôle Molière in the city of Murreaux is an entity of public services in a process of renovation district : child care
center, elementary school, function roomrestaurant , coffee shop
For this project, the intervention of an artist has been required
in order to create a
signaling system that embodies each building of the pôle Moliere,
and therefore gives it
a global identity.
The graphic designer and artist Malte Martin worked on a panel of
geometrical forms /shapes - circle, square, triangle, diamond shape
- on which each building is associated to a color and shape. Instead of being though as a furniture, an additional layer, this signaling system based on signs refers directly to the architectural gesture and works in echo with it.
These shapes conforms the walls, windows,
floor… of the pole, and therefor sets visual signs that helps the visitor to orientate himself. It is an intuitive building material that each inhabitant of the Murreaux will be able to appropriate himself as he go.
In art it is the universal vocabulary for modern utopias.
For the kid, it is symbolizing the enrichment activities. For others, it is synonymous of a multitude of activities that are proposed at the pôle Moliere. Beyond those signaling shapes ; this same vocabulary has given birth to the creation of a variety of visual games that allows a graphic initiation.
During several months, workshops for residents of all ages have supported the construction site. Using the "modulos Fais moi signe!", anyone can express his creativity by composing patterns in small or large scale, either on paper or using frame projection.
They are integral parts of the artistic signage and will be available in the school, the toy library
of the pôle Molière or
the media library of the city of Murreaux.
