During my 10 years work as an architect, I always
searched for the opportunity to learn and try something new by exploring
different sides of this profession. Living and working in Greece brought me
lately close to the ecological part of the architecture, where I started to
learn new ways of building and ecological building and decorative materials.
Having experience with one of them – clay plaster, was
a start of an experiment of using it in a totally modern way. Usually the clay
plasters are used more for getting the rustic feeling, but their unique
structure and texture is also suitable for very contemporary modern look. For
example, the look of a used exposed concrete wall can be reached with using of
an absolutely pleasant, warm, environmentally friendly and easily applicable
clay plaster.
In the luxury 3floor flat in Prague my first attempt was
to work on the plaster to get a unique and original decoration, significant for
this specific space, avoiding the use of wallpapers, which became a bit boring lately.
I used painting, spraying, and engraving to make an abstract drawing on the
whole wall of the staircase. The result is more than interesting; the visitors
recognize the flat by this big piece of art.
And more important all this with a very small budget.
