This is my second THIS big competition. There were 75 participant teams in total. So, officially it is biggest competition in Lithuania yet!The pavilion was built in 1969. Author Albinas Čepys [1917-1989]. It is not typical architecture to Palanga, but pavilion perfectly reflects the style and the sense of that exact period. Also, this is one of the last [town library too] objects in Palanga that is still functional and represent work of A. Čepys. This is why the decision not to destroy but to work with pavilion was taken. It is old pine trees that surround pavilion.Pavilion is in old part of Palanga. Close to Tiškevičius botanical park [South]. This is VERY sensitive part of the old town to new architecture. Pity, but it is already deformed by oversized new villas and hotels…2 stores with mansard is allowed.Pavilion is not recognizes as heritage of architecture.Pavilion has no clear functional purpose at the moment.Pavilion is owned by Palanga local administration. The new object should have:transformable conference hall up to 1000 pl.cafe/barexhibition hallstourism information centreadministrationno parking at this stage of projectplace for “in the air” concerts And so we got:transformable conference/art hall up to 500 pl. [this should be optimal capacity for this size of plot [64.05a]covering central court gave us 500 pl. hall, and same roof gave us nice place for “in the air” covering frontal entranceunderground exhibition hall gave us more space and we avoided increasing intensity of pawning.art avenue is proposed between two cultural objects.the ONLY pine tree is cut down.
