ART OBJECT – UNITING DUALITY
The right-bank embankment of the Yenisei River, being implemented as a complex public and recreational space, was designed by a consortium of five architectural studios. The territory was divided by the authors into several thematic and environmental zones, which were developed by different studios.
Our team worked on the project of the Promenade section with the amphitheater and the art object. Responding to the spatial axis of the riverfront and following the parameters of the existing capital structure, we created an amphitheater in the protruding part of the embankment, where the retaining wall was dismantled. The amphitheater unites two levels of the embankment, and in its compositional center on the upper level there is an accent element—an art object. The location is a visual crossing, observable from numerous points in the surrounding space, including the bridge; it is a zone of social activity among citizens and the intersections of main pedestrian flows.
The art object is one of the symbolic elements complementing the overall brand meaning of the region "Yenisei Siberia." In a conceptual sense, the idea of duality embodied in its architectural composition and lighting design represents the left and right banks of the river, as well as the relationship between masculine and feminine. It’s formed by two architectural and structural elements, united by a spatial grid - a "dynamic" light "cloud" with two "beating hearts" inside with an interactive design that invites visitors to the embankment into a tactile dialogue with the art object. Holding hands, two people can reach out and touch buttons, closing the chain of the scenario sequence, where light and color will create a surge of emotions.
The art object continues the strategic line taken by the city to create elements of active lighting design that qualitatively complement the urban environment, implemented, among other things, in the illumination of the bridge.
