The
pavilion is based on the geometric form of the ‘Klein Bottle’, a
non-orientable object with
no distinct "inner" and "outer" sides.
The surface folds into itself thus blurring the boundaries between
interior and exterior spaces.
The
pavilion is constructed by a series of succeeding sections, changes
in the sections both horizontally (in the floor levels) and
vertically (in the walls) serve a programmatic purpose. Horizontally
– the circulation system also doubles as tribunes. In the interior
space it can be used to seat up to 30 people. On the roof it allows
natural sunlight to enter the space underneath while also functioning
as seating space in an outdoor terraced balcony. Vertically each
module is independent structurally and the gaps between the modules
allow for natural sunlight to enter the interior space.
